Back home, I am an angel of the Lord. I follow His every word. If He told me to throw myself into danger or sacrifice myself for the good of my brethren, I would do so. Because I love Him with all my heart.
Every angel has a job. My friend Pendroz watches over the ninth hour of every day and ensures that time flows correctly, for example. And my job that God Himself gave to me to carry out is to destroy those who pose the greatest risk to the innocent down on earth.
[Another pause. He hasn't had to explain this to anyone, really. His brethren all knew his job, so none of them asked any questions at all. It was the way it always was.]
That means those who have escaped the justice set out for the, I do not, for example, kill those who have received their just sentence and are now serving penance for their crimes. Neither do I kill those who I see truly want to change. I let their fellow human decide what to do with them.
But...if they escape their justice by evading the law or getting off with a small punishment instead of the one they deserved due to the fact that they have twisted the law in their favor, then I cannot tolerate this. I always do reconnaissance on them for a long time before I rest on my final decision, though. And then I make my move. Innocents are saved. One life has to die to save many, I believe.
I will not allow anyone to do the job that God gave me. It must be I who has the blood on his hands, not anyone else. I was made for this- I will not allow anyone else to have their soul bruised as much as mine. It is my fight to fight.

It's odd to me that they seem to want to defend her for her nature, yet they do not consider yours. Whereas her actions were selfish.
What will you do here, Angel of the Lord, where there seems to be no death? Will you keep to your task regardless?
[He's very interested in this question, because with Diva's return, he doesn't know what to do, himself. He sees himself (sometimes) as an instrument of justice, cold and unyielding.]
If there were a justice system that could punish people, then you would not have to kill those justly punished, is that correct? By what criteria do you determine whether a punishment is just?

[A long pause as he tries to figure out how to answer that.] I will research as much as I can about what the methods of death here are. I will keep to my task no matter what, but I must be more vigilant next time.
No, I wouldn't. Because the justice of that system would act on them in my stead. A just punishment is one that takes into account all the criminal's deeds and treats them like the crimes that they are. A sentence of life for a serial killer is just, but a person who only gets two weeks in prison due to people not believing he committed the murder he did is not just. But like I said, it is different for each person.
